Just back - 7/1/08 - 7/5/08

Just wanted to post a short review to all those out there who have been skeptical about the bad reviews and postings on some of the boards lately.  After reading some of those I was a little worried and had myself pretty nervous, even though this was our 3rd year at Iberostar.  Let me just say, don't let those things worry you!  We had a wonderful trip! 

The resort was beautiful, as usual.  I believe it was actually even better this year than it had been the past two years.  The food was about the same as our past experiences.  We never had trouble finding something to eat.  None of us got sick and didn't notice anyone else at the resort that were having noticeable trouble.  This was the first year we did not have trouble with rocks at the beach.  My girls went right in and stayed in, which is unusual cause they usually don't like the salt in their eyes.  The pools were beautiful as usual and we never had trouble finding chairs.  I don't think our room service was as good at the Lindo as it was at they Maya but that was the only difference I noticed.  The towel art wasn't as good and we didn't get the free bottle of tequila or chocolates when they turned down the beds like we did at the Maya but the room was clean and if we asked for anything they made sure they took care of us.   

It was our typical Iberostar vacation, WONDERFUL!  So don't let they bad reviews and negative comments affect your vacation.  We all have different expectations and experiences so I'm sure there are some unfortunate experiences out there but they have to be minimal compared to the great ones.

I think when you pay $12000+ for a family holiday most expectations should come naturally.........I havnt posted a review yet but its not pretty, and not what I expected from the Lindo.

Thanks goodness we didn't pay $12,000 for our vacation, not even half that!

Wow, $12,000 ? How many people and for how long?  I'm paying $2360 for 2 people for nine days!

We paid $12K for 5 of us for 10 days in the Turks and Caicos several years ago. That included air, a two bedroom condo with full kitchen and screened in balcony, all drinks. meals, a trip to the grocery store for essentials, a sunset cruise, a day out on a catamaran to go snorkeling and shelling. It was worth every penny and the food at all the restaurants was great. Was so glad I didn't do AI at Beaches.

thanks for the positive review.I will be at the Lindo with my 19 yr.old daughter from 8/17-8/24 and after reading all the negative stuff I wa getting down right worried.
Any hints for a first timer?

Sandy - Don't worry - Like you, last year my wife and I went to Lindo for the first time and were very concerned about some of the reviews. It was great! We're going back 9/20 and we're counting down the days, we can't wait. Nothing is 100% perfect all of the time and I'm sure some have had problems, but don’t let that spoil your vacation. I'm sure even though we had a great vacation I could find something to pick on, but if the speed of the lazy river is going to ruin your vacation, nothing is going to make you happy. The staff was exceptional, the entertainment was fun, the grounds are beautiful, and the food was very good and I’m very picky (meat-potato-vegetable). Enjoy your vacation!

I feel for some of you that travel so far. I am very thankful that being in Houston, Texas,  we are only a 2-1/2 hr. flight from our favorite area to vacation. We are spending $200 more this year at the Lindo ($1,130 per person) than we did at the Beach/Del Mar last year for 7 days. I still think it's a great deal.

After 7 yrs. of staying at Tucan/Quetzal because of its smaller size, the pools at the Paraiso Complex cannot be beat. This will be our 2nd year there, but thought we would try an upgrade. Who knows, maybe next year we can afford the Grand.

I'm with you Playafan51, we are also from Houston. this June made are 8th time at the Lindo/Maya and this September will make are 2nd stay at the Grand. we keep looking for something that would be different but the same stanards as Iberostar and I cant find anything.
