Bavaro vs.Lindo Price AND Comparasion

Does anyone know if there is a significant price difference between the Lindo and Bavaro? I am torn between going back to the Lindo (3rd time) or trying the Bavaro.I was interested in going  the end of June 2006.There would be 3 adults and 2 children under 12 in our family.Do you have to book 2 rooms,and if so do they give you a discount on a family plan and also I read somewhere that kids under 12 are free? If anyone could help with info I would really appreciate it......thanks Jeannie

Don't know the cost of Lindo, but booked Bavaro from 12/5 to 12/12 from Baltimore on Apple Vacations for $931 p.p. plus tax and insurance which brought it up to $1,182.  It was only $931 for 1 day, typical price is about $1,100 to $1,300 plus t&i in December.  Good luck.

Jeannie, we are in the same place you are. I got a price from George for the first of June ,and its the same as the Lindo. so George is going to be at Bavaro the end of this month so he is going to compare the two Resorts. my family of 2 kids under 12 have had a great time at the Lindo and if there is not much difference we will probably go to the Bavaro for a change .

My family and I (husband & 17 year old daughter) stayed at the Bavaro July '05 and Lindo July '04. Biggest differences: Lindo is bigger, newer, especially pool bar, the pool area, stage for the nightly shows. That being said, we did enjoy the Bavaro very much. In my opnion the Bavaro beach is better (calmer, more clear)...we were able to do a bit of snorkeling on the Bavaro beach. Plus the pool is right off of the ocean. I liked that A LOT! You could be at the pool and still see and hear the ocean. Bavaro did not, however, have waitresses at the pool and ocean.

If you like to go off the resort, the Lindo is probably better. We did an excursion in Punta Cana, but there wasn't a shopping area like Playa to go to (but I don't care about that...I don't like to shop on vacation anyway). Bavaro has a (very) small casino, which Lindo doesn't have. They both have a dance club. Food at Bavaro was kind of bland compared to Mexico, but we still liked it. The staff at Lindo were exceptionally nice and yet the staff at Bavaro was even better. We thought that it would be hard to believe the service level of the Lindo and the Bavaro did it!

All in all, we enjoyed the Bavaro very much. Just remember that it is smaller and not as new.

We were at the Bavaro twice and returning to the Lindo for a second time.  Our first trip to the Bavaro was way better than the second.  They had a la cart lunches on the beach (now buffet) and it was really easy to go to all the restaurants.

I do agree that Punta Cana has the best beaches, but the Lindo beach was good too.  PDC has more to see, and there are more excursions in Mexico. 

I personally liked the food at the Lindo better, and it is a step above the Bavaro, for us.

Lisa & Saundra thanks for the info my choice is going to be whats best for my 2 daughters 10 and 8 we have been to lindo twice with them and the stare friends remember them and they had a great time can we see that at Bavaro

I've been to the Bavaro in 9/04 and Lindo 6/05.  The Lindo is newer and bigger with more ammenities.  I would compare the Bavaro to the Beach/Del Mar as far as ammenities.  That being said, I loved them both.  Mexico has much more to do in the way of a town and shopping.  There are excursions at both but as for night life at the Bavaro, the resort is pretty much it.  If you stay at the Bavaro you have use of the Punta Cana and Dominica as well.  There is a small casino if you like to gamble.  I think the beach is gorgeous in Punta Cana, calm clear blue waters as compared to the Lindo.  I didn't think the beach was bad at the Lindo but definately much more wave action at the Lindo.  Punta Cana is not as developed ast PDC so keep that in mind.  If you go with an open mind and want a relaxing vacation than you won't be disappointed in the Bavaro.  I would not hesitate to go back to either.

I guess there are alot of us in the same boat... We've been to the Lindo in May 05 and 06.  I'm thinking about the Bavaro.  But I don't want to be disappointed.  Out of Houston the two resorts are about the same price. Ib* out did themselves w/ the Lindo..  I think they've spoiled us all. lol
