Hi All.  My name is Kim and my husband is Scott, we are from Regina, SK, Canada.  We will be at the Iberostar Paraiso Del Mar Jan 19 to Feb 2, 2006.  We discovered this message board a few weeks a go and it sure has been helpful with finding out information regarding the aftermath of hurricane Wilma.  Thanks to all that have been posting updates.  This will be the second time to the Mayan Riviera and our first time to an Iberostar Resort.  We are sure looking forward to this holiday, it is always great meeting people from other places.    dine

Hello everyone,

My name is Gary and my wife's name is Sandy.  We live in Sterling Heights, MI (suburb of Detroit).  We are both in our mid-forties and have been married for 26 years.  No kids (we decided a long time ago not to have any until my wife raised me, and well........still no kids!)  Cheesy, but we do have a beautiful dog (our baby!) named Sedona!

We both love to travel, and have traveled extensively in the U.S., but until two years ago, had never ventured out of the country (except for Canada).  Then two years ago we went to French Polynesia and stayed on the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, and Bora Bora, which opened our eyes to international travel.  Last year we decided to visit the Riviera Maya and using trip advisor decided upon the IB Lindo.  We fell in love with the place and the  people who worked there!  We had planned on returning November 11th of this year, but Wilma (I hate Wilma!!!) changed those plans.  We are now headed to Puerto Vallarta to stay at the Dreams resort.  It looks very nice, and we are excited to try somewhere new, but are still sad we are not going to the Lindo.  Hopefully we will return next year (hopefully Mother Nature cooperates!)!

For all you new people that have never been to the Iberostar complex before, you are going to be amazed by the place!!!  Even if it is not completely back to its full pre-Wilma (Have I mentioned I hate Wilma?!!) glory, you are still going to have a great time!!!  The service and the people who provide that service are really what make this place so special!!!  Please remember to tip these people as generously as you can, they don't expect it, but as you will see, they very much deserve it!!!

Have a blast!!!

Gary

Hello, My name is Ralph and my wifes name is Lorrie,we live in New England and have been to the Iberostar Tucan three times. The Iberostar Resorts are all top notch and we were heart broken to have
to re-book our trip 11/12-11/19. You have the kindest and polite staff we have ever met. Everyone is just plain Fantastic. From the lobby personal to the maid's to the Star Friends Show after dinner(the best we have seen at any resort) every one of you are truly blessed and missed. Lets not forget all those wonderful people behind the scenes who every morning are cleaning the beach and grounds as well as the other 100 chores before all us vacationers wake up. See you in 2006

Hi all. We're Andre (33) and Paula (37), we live in Brighton, England with our 2 teenage darlings

We found this forum invaluable when we made the decision to book a holiday (just us, no darlings     ) to the Del Mar/ Beach back in March. We became engaged in August and decided we would love to get married while we were in Mexico, so hired a wedding planner as the hotel had no vacancies for weddings. We were so excited about our trip, having never ventured this far before.

Until we found out today it's been cancelled by our travel company because of Wilma. If we hadn't called them we may never have known until we got to the airport as we got the tickets last week! Very very very upset, especially as we know the hotel's up and running and there was no reason to cancel. So after shouting a lot and threatening them with no luck, we are going to have to reschedule for end of Jan.

Fortunately our wedding planner is wonderful, an absolute star, and is doing everything her end to help us. Despite still having no water or electricity!

Unfortunately the Del Mar/ Beach is fully booked, so we were wondering if anyone can recommend another Iberostar? We were thinking of the Tucan, and would be interested to know what anyone thinks of that compared with the Del Mar/ Beach.

Looking forward to 'meeting' you all

Hello All, I have been hanging around this board for a while now but havent posted for ages.  I am Sally, married to John and we live in Scotland.  No kids yet but have 2 cats!

We spent our honeymoon last year at the IB Costa Dorada and absolutely fell in love with it.  We holidayed at the IB Sunny Beach in Bulgaria this year which was also good.

We were booked to go the Tucan on 4th December but had to cancel due to other committments and am gutted.  Really hope we can re-schedule for some time next year.

Hello and welcome to you all.  Happy Holidays!  beach1

Good Afternoon Everyone, My wife took the Mayan-Adventure tour last year when we were at the Iberostar Tucan and had a wonderful time. Has anyone heard if there staff and the wonderful family at the Cenota Site with the Cave is safe? The woman their made the best chicken I ever had and she served it to our group under a grass hut. I hope they are safe and as happy as my wife and I were when we visited. Can't wait to visit the Tucan again. Ralph & Lorrie

Hi folks,
Im Caron and my hubby is called Andy. We live in the uk  UnitedKingdom in a small seaside town called Broadstairs. We have 3 kids, but only 1 of them still at home and thats Megan, shes 16. I gave up my job in education this year to become a fulltime foster carer/mum. We have 3 children placed with us, 2 boys and a girl, ages 6,7 and 8. They are brothers and sisters. It is a long term placement, and all being well they shall remain with us until adulthood. We first discovered iberostar on the island of Kos, Greece in august 03. It was fANTASTIC sunny, and we were hooked instantly. Summer 04 we went to the Tucan in Mexico mexico Wow, what can I say? Heaven on earth! We are booked to return early april 06 for easter. This time we will have Megan, our son Glen and his new wife Stephanie and our foster kids. 2006 is our silver wedding anniversary 25 years, cant believe we have put up with each other for so long! in_love. Its in the autumn, but we will celebrate in Mexico early to avoid the hurricane season. I was so anxious when I heard about Emily and then Wilma. Once you have been to a place you cant help but worry about everyones safety who has to live there, the locals and all the wildlife. So glad you are on the mend, our thoughts are with you and we look forward to seing all the star friends there soon, only 5 months, ( plus all the other people there who work so hard, cleaners, waiters  applause etc). Hope all the little villages on the way to chichen itza also survived.

Hi Caron

When are you at the Tucan? We fly out from Manchester on Wednesday 29th March with our girls who will be 7 and 9. Same thought as you, play safe and avoid Hurricane season. It means taking the girls out of school for three days which we've never done before, but I'm sure the experience will justify it!!

It's good to know that there will be other kids of the same age there. We are all really looking forward to it and who knows our paths mau cross out there thumbsup

Pam

P.S We know Broadstairs. My husbands sister has a holiday chalet at Kingsdown Park

Hi All:

Our names are Inge & Steve and we are from outside of Vancouver, BC, Canada.  We will be staying at the Paraiso Beach Jan 28 to Feb 11, 2006.  This will be our 3rd Iberostar resort.  We have previously stayed at the Dominicana (2002) and the Hacienda Dominicus (2004).  Both resorts were great and we look forward to the same here.  It will be interesting to see if there is any difference between the Dominican Republic and Mexican hosts.  To say the least we have been a bit anxious about the damage done by Wilma, but are comforted by the postings on the many boards and assume, like many, that all will be in order by the time we go.  It will be our first time back to Mexico since about '96 when we were in Cancun.

We are both in our mid 40's and enjoy the Star Friends, the entertainment and the activities.  If my shoulder holds out, I plan to play a lot of beach volleyball.

Looking forward to our trip...

Steve
