We are going to the Tucan in December and bringing our 3 year old son. I know the web site says the kids program starts at 4 years old but I was wondering if they take kids that are 3 1/2 and potty trained? I think it would be good for him and a little  beach2 for us. Thanks.

You won't have a problem as long as he is potty trained.  They do a great job with the kids!

As an ex-Miniclub employee at IB Tucan you are right. They don't check ID. They don't need to. There are otherways to find out if the child is 3 or not. Sometimes they allow younger children. But if it is really busy they may not allow you to leave him, as not only is it a potential hazard for the 2 girls that work there, it could also be a potential hazard to your child. Some activies are impossible to do with 3 year olds....so it really depends on how many kids they have on there hands.

Also when you check in your child you sign an information sheet, if you don't sign it your child cannot participate. When you sign that sheet you are basically saying your child is 4 years old. If something were to happen to your child you would be 100% responsible.

Basically i would check the age group of kids that are there and how many of them there are. Younger children need more one on one time and more supervision.

Our kids spent some time there this past week.  I think a 3-yr old would be tough for the kids club to handle with the group activities.  They walk to the pool, carry sand buckets to the beach, etc.  They walk the whole group to the buffet for lunch.... if there were several 3-year olds there, how could the 2 attendants even carry all the plates at lunchtime?

Alternatively, the front desk told us they offer a babysitting service for $10 an hour.

As far as getting your son the opportunity to play with other kids, he will likely meet new friends just hanging out at the pool, etc whether you or a babysitter are with him.
