We are travelling to Dominicana in February.  Flew to Puerto Plato in August, flying to Punta Cana in Feb.  Just wondering how the airports compare?  Air con etc?
Stayed at IBS Costa Dorada and looking at this site seems they seem fairly similar.  Would be interested to know if there are tea/coffee facilities in the rooms (like my tea when I wake up).  I would like a room nearer the sea than the lobby so what block to ask for?  I am sure there is a map of the resort somewhere but haven't been able to find one.  Can't wait to read your review.

We are booked in to the IB Bavaro in early February. My wife and 2 kids (8 and 10) are very excited as it will be our first time in Punta Cana.  Do you have any suggestions for room requests?  Are there newer and older rooms or are they all the same?

We're booked for our 7th stay at the Bavaro for this February 4-11.
We kind of just figured out we will be there for Super Bowl Sunday

We can't wait to    watching the game as it will be frickin' cold here in upstate NY so the warm Dominican sun will be perfect for "Super Sunday".

Just returned from Iberostar Punta Cana. All the room in that part of the resort are the same Junior Suites. Some by the beach were being redone but otherwise I have a map of the reort.

We're going Dec. 19-26.  Please tell me if there are coffee pots in the room???Do they have Sweet+Low or Equal Just How dressey areladies in the evening? Has the NEW Cajun restaurant opened yet????Will the remodel of the rooms + restaurants be done by Christmas?Any special THINGS planned for Christmas???

There is coffee pot in the room.
They do have Equal in the buffet & restaurants.
Ladies are not overdressed.
There's no Cajun restaurant in IB Bavaro, Dominicana or Punta Cana.
I did not notice any room or restaurant remodeling being done.
We've great Thanksgiving dinner buffet. I am sure  Christmas will be dynamite.
We had really good time out there. It rained 2-3 times for 5-15 min.

i was at there last year during christmas.. on xmas eve: they have a special dinner buffet (you make reservations like you would for a specialty restaurant), drinks (champagne and i can't remember what else) right outside the buffet, a live nativity scene and there's a santa if you want pictures or whatever.. on xmas day: santa came to the beach in a helicopter, all the staff had santa hats and just activities around the pool and everything
have fun!!

Heading to Punta Cana in less than two weeks....Do you have any suggestions regarding the restuarants? Also, i heard that you can become ill from eating the shellfish.  is that true?  are there other foods i should stay away from?

I really enjoyed Steak, Japanese, Gourmet, Mediterranean and Pagoda.

The Pagoda has to be reserved at Punta Cana side. You can only do three reservations, but I we did not have problems visiting other restaurants as well.

Bring hand sanitizer with you (one with alcohol), 50 plastic cups to brush your teeth and rinse a tooth brush, room clock and strong deodorizer for the closet.

Bring some room deodorizer or candles...not that the room smells foul, it just smells somewhat old and a bit musty.

Noticed that one of your tips was to bring cups for brushing teeth....why?

Hi Baltovaca,

Here's the phone number for your co-workers:

You'll have to wash regular glass cups every time you brush your teeth with tap water which is not very safe.

On another hand you can rinse your toothbrush and mouth using the disposable plastic cup. I used for it water from the 1 gallon container which was provided to us by resort.
