Back from Paraiso Lindo

My luggage was delivered to my home at 11pm Mon. night.  Everything in tact, now I have some laundry to do.

Did anyone else get chiggers at the beach???  If you are going to the beach, TAKE CLEAR NAIL POLISH!  I didn't know Mexico had chiggers...by the third day I was covered.  Went to the Lindo gift store, Maya and the Beach and the only color nail polish they carried was pink....so.....yep, I had pink polish spots ALL over me!  Did anyone see me   Got back home and had to go to the doctor because they got infected from god knows what down there.  Back to normal (few scars that should lighten).

Did anyone else not enjoy the food?  I read posts before I left with people raving over the food...I must say, I can't not rave about it.  Oh yeah, I HATE INCENSE!  That stuff stunk at the buffet at Lindo.  We went to Playa and was excited to see a McDonalds!  I don't even eat McDonalds when I am at home.  I ate like I had not eaten in months!

Nope - did not get any (and never heard of chiggers before either).  A few mosquito bites though.
By the way - article says nail polish does not help.

About food - I can only answer about Del Mar/Beach - I did not find food extremly special.  I noticed that they usually stress presentation as opposed to taste - it looks great but it tastes only average.  That especially goes for japanese restaurant - it is completely obvious there that they learned how to put up a show but the food was very so so, IMHO.  I think they do mexican food better than other kind - probably because they really know how to cook it.

However - I will not go that far as comparing food to McDonalds, we had no problems finding at the buffet something that we liked.

The article is wrong.  I sufficates the little things.  I live in michigan and we has lots of chiggers because of the geese.  Nail Polish works!

At the beginning of the trip, the food was ok to us and we were able to find things to eat.  By about the 4th day, I couldn't even go to the buffet or around it.  Room service did have some pretty good food.  But at the buffet, it got to the point that I correlated the food and the incense they burned and the thought made us sick.  I can't eat a Caesar salad, salsa, omelet as well as many other things still.  It brings back the smell of incense and I want to get sick.  I really made me sad because the omelets were my main source of food because they were pretty tasty!

I think those are actually sand flea bites. They do look like chigger bites, though. All bugs love me, so I'm familiar with them all!

Mosquito repellent with DEET works to keep the sand fleas off, too.

Jim, loved the report and the photos . one question you had pictures of the mall on site is it open now with all the shops ?

It wasn't open when I was there, but it was getting close.  I  think I've read other reports since that said the new disco is open, called Galaxy.   I'm sure the shops are open by now.  Just what we need, someplace else to spend money.
