WalkingSmiley

Question for any of you veterans.........

My wife & I really enjoy walks along the beach.  Can anyone tell me if this is possible, especially post-Wilma.

I know from recent posts that the area in front of the Del Mar is very rocky & hard to navigate, but how far south can a person easily walk past the Lindo/Maya properties?   in_love

The beach is fine actually.
The rocks are in the water (which makes them hard to see).
The beaches both to the south and to the north have plenty of debree though - seaweed, pieces of garbage, coral, sea shells, so it is not completely pretty but does not prevent you from walking.

We walked south pretty much to the Maroma resort (I think it is called that way) -  there is a little bay right before it that is hard to navigate.  That is probably 20 minutes away at slow pace.  There is some construction going on of 5th Iberostar hotel, but that is off the beach, though you see it.

It is more difficult to the north - right after Del Mar beach there is some construction going on almost on the water (I am not sure what they are thinking about right after Wilma) - but you can pass that you can walk right up to the Moon Palace (I think) and even further probably.  But north has a lot more construction going on so it is less comfortable.

Thanks sbob, that helps a lot.  I was afraid that Wilma may have caused a lot more damage to the walking areas.

BTW, the day this was taken it must have been quite cool; can't remember ever seeing people on the beach as clothed as those in the first pic.  Mind you any day in Mexico beats winter here !

i walked pretty far to the south and only stepped on small sea shells and since that was what i was looking for it was fine. i did not notice the seaweed and broken debris others have spoken of, they do have people sifting throught the sand by hand which im sure has helped alot. my friends did find a $10 bill one early morning!

It was 4.30 or 5 PM when the sun starts to go down already.  Also, it was very windy that day as you can see.
Do not worry - it is hot there  Smiley

Raider, your story reminds me of the time we took our fam to the Toucan.

My son was pretty bummed out that he lost his sunglasses in the surf, until he found a 100 peso-bill floating in the water.

I guess the sea taketh; the sea giveth  -  or somethin' like that !!

Okay, those pics look like it's a little warmer !   sunny

Raider.....
That $100 lunch at LOS PINTAS..... was that pesos or USD ?? I always get confused when they just mark it with a $ as it could be either !  banghead
Either way, I hope that the experience didn't sour you too badly & that you were able to enjoy the rest of your vacation ! yipee
