Requirements for a Civil Wedding at the Hotel

Passports
Birth Certificates translated into Spanish attached with an “Apostille”. An apostille is a form of certification that it’s required by the International authorities in order to make your papers legal here in Mexico.
If you are American, please contact the Secretary of State where you were born. You should send your birth certificates to the Secretary of State and Enclose a letter stating that you are getting married in Mexico and that you need an Apostille. They will then return you the documents.
If you are British, please contact the Legalization Department of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
If you are Canadian, please contact the nearest Mexican Embassy or Consulate in order to legalize your Birth Certificate and translation.
(The Judge usually keeps the birth certificates, so we recommend you to bring certified copies rather than originals).
Divorce decree or certificate, if applicable (please advice when the Bride is divorce).
Tourist cards ( which every foreigner obtains on the flight down to Mexico ).
Witnesses: You will need four witnesses with their picture ID and a copy of their Tourist card for your wedding. They need to be here at the latest three working day’s prior to the wedding. If you do not bring any witnesses, the hotel will be happy to provide them without any extra charge.
Blood test (to determined blood type, HIV, RH Factor and Venereal deceases) – have to be made at the Hotel in Mexico, cost: US$ 140.00 per couple (payable at the moment of the test directly to the doctor in cash).
The wedding couple and their witnesses must be in Mexico for at least 3 working days before the wedding, to meet with the wedding coordinator and submit all documents.
The ceremony will not be performed unless all documents are in order (no exception)
Marriage License Apostil (for USA and British Citizens) – After the wedding you will be receive your Marriage License and an original copy. In order to make this valid in your country, we as well need to get the apostil for the Marriage License. We take care of this procedure, but it is 30 USD payable in cash before the wedding day. The procedure takes 1-3 months, as soon as we have it back you would receive it through courier mailing.

Marriage License Original Copies – every extra copy is 5 USD payable in cash, before the wedding day. This procedure takes around one month. As soon as we receive it we will be mailing it through courier mailing.

Booking your wedding

Due to the high amount of weddings that we have, we kindly ask you to request the wedding date as soon as possible. We have a policy of having only one wedding per day, as we believe it should be your special day. If you would like to reserve the date, we require a written confirmation at least 6 weeks prior arrival, we just need an email or fax with both of your names, arrival date, the requested wedding date and time and approximate number of guests; please enclosed a copy of a credit card and ID (both sides) as a support of the wedding. We do not require a deposit and we do not make any charges prior the wedding day, all the wedding charges will go onto the room account which you can settle during your stay (the hotel accepts credit cards, travelers checks and cash).

Here at the Hotel Iberostar Paraiso Lindo, we understand that all couples have their own ideas of how they want their special day to be, we try to be as flexible as possible. Between now and when you walk down the aisle, you will have lots of questions, please do not hesitate to contact us by email, fax or telephone so that we can answer any individual questions. No question is too small or too big, please let us help you as much as possible. We are here to take out the stress of planning a wedding in a different country.

Wedding Locations and Decoration

We have two different types of decoration available for both wedding locations. It could be Traditional White or a colorful Mexican style. We offer as well two different options for the decoration of the chairs: golden or silver ribbons.

We offer two different wedding locations from which you can choose from:

Gazebo - Located in the middle of the grounds surrounded by beautiful tropical gardens and a fountain. This is a perfect location for a private rather small ceremony (we can set chairs for more or less 40 guests in the gazebo area).

Beach - Located on the Paraiso Beach side of the Hotel, at the entrance of the beach surrounded by palm trees. This location is for those who dream of getting married on a sunny Caribbean beach ( we recommend this locations for groups larger than 40 people).

Music
Included, within the packages, is music from a selection of CDs; to walk down the aisle, we have available two different wedding marches and the Cannon in D, or you can bring your own favorite ones with you. A very popular option with previous couples is the Mariachis (extra charge). This is a group of Mexicans dressed in traditional outfits playing a mixture of music with guitars, violins and a trumpet. ¡¡¡ Viva Mexico !!! Another option is the Mexican trio, a group with guitars singing all together. When you are more leaning towards a traditional wedding we recommend to hire a violinist, he plays a nice variety of traditional wedding songs. E.g. Canon in D, Ave Maria…

Time of the Wedding Ceremony
You can choose any time of the day as long as there is daylight. Considering the time change here in Mexico, sunset between October and March is around 6:00 pm and from April till September around 7:00 pm. Most couple choose 4pm and 5pm mostly because the heat of the day has passed yet you still have enough light to take quality photos after the ceremony. ** The Civil Judge only perform wedding ceremonies on the hour (4:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 6:00pm and so on).

Flowers
We would appreciate if a few weeks before your arrival you let us know if you have any special request regarding the flowers for the bridal bouquet. We have samples that we can send to you by email to show you what we usually have available. We have a great variety of bridal bouquets to choose from. Depending on the season we offer a selection of tropical flowers such as: lilies, tiger lilies, Casablanca’s, gerbera daisy’s, Star Gazers, births of paradise, asters and so on. We also have some more traditional flowers like roses and white lilies. Also depending on the season and with an extra charge we could get calla lilies, tulips and orchids…
Extra flower arrangements available with an extra charge.

Wedding Cake
You can choose your wedding cake during the wedding meeting in the hotel. Our standard cake comes in two different shapes: heart or round, both covered in a white whipped cream frosting and decorated fresh flowers, matching the bridal bouquet. As per the flavors, you can choose between vanilla cake, chocolate cake or strawberry cheesecake. Other options could be available with an extra charge.
The cake could be serve after the ceremony with the champagne or after dinner.

Wedding Dinner

You can choose from one of our A La Carte Restaurants. Sitting times are at 6:30pm and 8:30pm.
In each of the restaurants you will find a buffet for hot and cold appetizers and salads and another one for desserts. For less than 15 people you can order the entrée directly from the menu. For groups bigger than 15 people you will have to choose a set menu for your group, this means the same entrée for all your guests.

Hello,

I was checking to see when you book your wedding there, and you eat dinner at the restaurant after the ceremony is there a private area for your party or is it just tables in the restaurant, I am expecting about 30-40 people. Also I am interested in booking the private disco, do you have any pictures of this area?

This probably already duplicates most of the information that George has posted regarding weddings but here's another link that's neat to check out as well.........my sister who was married at the Lindo last June found it and thought that someone might be interested.

Question for George - or anyone who can answer Smiley

My fiance and I booked the Lindo for our wedding on March 10th, 2006. We are just finalizing the flight/hotel  package with our travel agent.
We decided to reserve the junior suite rather than chance the possiblilty that it will be available for an upgrade.
Does anyone know how the honeymoon junior suites work? Can we book that at booking time?

Thanks in advance!

HI George, my fiance and I are going to get married at the Lindo in November. I was curious about something, I read that if you get your blood tests done in the states 14 or less before you arrive in Mexico and show paperwork to the resor/doctor, that you will not need to get the blood tests done again in Mexico.

Is this true??

CANADACAT:  We are staying in the Honeymoon suite for our wedding in November. It was alittle more expensive, but I we decided it would be worth it since we are staying for 11 days. You have to reserve those rooms ASAP, there are only 4, I think. They go quick!!

Hi, does anyone know if the wedding sites at Del Mar/Beach and Lindo are the same? I looked at the map, and the resorts are right next ro one another. I've seen pictures of the wedding Gasebo in Del Mar, but no pictures of Lindo. Anyone has a picture of wedding in Lindo?
Any help is greately appreciated!

katbka, I'm not 100% sure, but I think they are the same. The map they gave me at the Del Mar/Beach shows the "wedding pavilion", and my Lindo map doesn't. Plus, I don't remember seeing a separate gazebo at the Lindo. The wedding coordinator could tell you for sure, or maybe someone else will chime in here.

My husband and I want to renew our vows in_love while we are at the IB Paraiso Lindo in June.  We'll only have ourselves and our 4 children with us.  Has anyone does this or does anyone have an idea of the cost?  It seems like the information on the weddings is a bit over the top (both in price and scope) for what we had in mind.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  not sure
