Barcelo Palace -vs- Iberostar Bavaro

We have previously stayed at the Barcelo Palace (last 5 out 0f 6 years) This last Feb, we ran into some people that we met at the Barcelo 3 years earlier  and they said they were going to the Iberostar this year, on plane ride back they said they liked it better then the Barcelos.( They stayed at the Barcelo Beach and Iberostar PuntaCana. My question is,  has anybody stayed at the Palace and the Bavaro and can they let me know what they think are the pros and cons of the Bavaro compared to the Palace.
