The no
of Voice Over IP
vendors is rising
giving you more choices and
excellent calling plans
Just last week I was browsing through a piece in Home Business and found about this thing I had never heard of before called a skype phone. These two are now loaded beyond their wildest expectations because of selling their concept to one of the premier sites on the web,e bay.So why am I getting so pumped up?.A lot of people call it voip. This idea of calling someone for nothing over the internet is not an original one.
Basically then you will be able to chat to whoever you like whenever you like wherever they are in the world and can even see them if you have skipe and a webcam. There is a drawback, however, and that is that it is most easily used over a isdn connection.Video bandwidth does not justify clarity over a slow connection .
Ebay the massive auction site is also auctioning skyp phones. We think skype has been in existence for a year to date and it is proving hugely popular.
Some of the commercial phone companies are already offering voip phone service..I guess the question remains is it commercially viable. Will it take on the net by storm, or is it just a passing fad.
My guess is that it is still in its youth and inevitably will go through a time where a lot of different firms will come up with different ways to do this. The most likely scenario is that the federal govt will want a slice of the action by regulation.Skype has to make a dollar or two as well and they do this by charging consumers who phone home to their landlines from their computer.
It looks like voice over interet protocol is also at the forefront of web video conferencing as well. Web video conferencing was a huge idea about 10 years ago but then fell off the radar but now it is making a comeback.
Audio and video are becoming more accessible for everyone nowadays-in this day and age especially with the massive success of youtube. Some people claim that audio and video will be no big deal but I disagree, I think it will be massive.
The next ten years will be make or break for the world of voip and only the consumers will tell us whether the free skype download is worth shouting home about. The question remains will voip take over from the phone.
